Australian men consuming less alcohol, less meat

More men are hitting the gym, rejecting red meat and swapping booze for herbal teas in the bid to make their health a bigger priority.
  • Research from Nielsen found that over the past five years the number of Australian men who say they prioritise physical fitness has increased by 17 per cent.
  • Almost half claim to be consuming less alcohol these days. One-third also indicated that it was important to avoid sugar.
  • One in seven males stated that they were mainly vegetarian, up 45 per cent compared with five years ago.

Takeout

The stereotypes of Australian men are being challenges as health and wellbeing become increasingly widespread concerns. Going without meat or alcohol is no longer the radical move it once was, with growing social acceptance for health-conscious lifestyle choices, which brands can certainly capitalise on.
