Ex-Leo Burnett global strategy chief Renee Salaberry hired as new Microsoft ANZ CMO

After a prolonged search, Microsoft has appointed a new Chief Marketing Officer. Renee Salaberry, who once led global strategy for Leo Burnett out of Chicago, will oversee the local marketing team and agency relationships.

  • She fills the gap left by Pip Arthur, who was appointed to a product management leadership role at Microsoft, leading the Modern Workplace Business Group in Australia and New Zealand.

Microsoft has named Renee Salaberry as its new Chief Marketing Officer in Australia and New Zealand, replacing Pip Arthur who was appointed to lead a modern work business group.

Salaberry will be responsible for marketing and demand generation for Microsoft’s commercial and consumer operations in the region.

She joins from ASX-listed healthcare company Nanosonics, where she has been Global Chief Marketing Officer for the past three years. She was head of marketing for medical company Abbott prior to that and has worked at some of the largest global advertising agencies in local and international roles. She was previously Executive Vice President, Worldwide Strategy Director for Leo Burnett in Chicago.

In a statement, Microsoft said: “Renee's deep marketing and industry expertise, combined with her experience working on some of the world’s leading brands during her agency career with Publicis Groupe (Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis Conseil) make her an ideal fit for Microsoft.”

She will report to Microsoft ANZ Chief Operating Officer, Steven Miller, and will lead the local marketing team and manage agency partners.
