WeAre8 names Danika Johnston, Luke Robinson to launch team

Danika Johnston and Luke Robinson have joined sustainable social network WeAre8’s Australian launch team, ahead of its official arrival in Australia next month.

WeAre8, a new social media platform that aims to be more sustainable and responsible, has named its Australian leadership team as it prepares to launch locally next month.

Danika Johnston has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer, having worked at NOVA Entertainment, Mamamia, SBS and TikTok in a 25-year media career.

Luke Robinson has joined as Chief Marketing Officer, formerly leading the Nine B2B marketing strategy across television, radio, publishing and digital. He has worked at Bauer Media and Sony in the past.

“Danika and Luke are outstanding media professionals. Danika is passionate about delivering results for her clients. More importantly, she is passionate about delivering the right results - ones that guarantee transformational performance, all while enabling brands to drive positive outcomes for people and the planet,” Lizzie Young, WeAre8’s Australia CEO, said.

Young left Nine earlier this year to head up the local WeAre8 operationThe platform was founded by Sue Fennessy, the London-based co-founder of Standard Media Index. The platform is a certified B-corporation and is funded by the likes of former English footballer Rio Ferdinand, the UK’s Channel 4, and BBC Studios through UKTV.
