Triple M turns off the mics for mental health initiative No Talk Day
Triple M will conduct its seventh annual No Talk Day on Monday, 7 July, by silencing microphones across all 49 stations nationwide from 6am to 6pm. This initiative pauses all shows, news, traffic updates, and advertising to provide listeners with the opportunity to check in with themselves and each other.
The event is held in partnership with Lifeline, aiming to encourage Australians to prioritise their mental wellbeing and seek support if needed. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2024, an average of 8.8 Australians die by suicide daily, with three out of four being men.
Throughout the day, Triple M will feature carefully curated music, powerful messages, and personal stories from listeners. The No Talk Day will be accessible on all 49 stations nationwide and via the LiSTNR app.
"No Talk Day is about creating space — space to reflect, reach out, and start a conversation. For seven years Triple M has paused programming to shine a light on mental health in a way only radio can," said Head of Triple M Metro Content, Matthew O’Reilly. "Talking about mental health doesn’t need to be heavy; it can be as simple as a check-in with a loved one, a mate, or a professional. If No Talk Day helps even one person start that conversation, we’ve done our job."
