WA bans mobile phones in schools
Premier Mark McGowan and Education Minister Sue Ellery announced students at all WA government schools would be banned from using mobile phones from next year.
- The “off and away all day” policy will apply during school hours, including before school and at break times.
- Ms Ellery said the ban was about reducing distractions and encouraging kids to talk to each other face to face, instead of texting.
- A similar ban is taking place in Victoria next year
