OpenAI's new face,
From Coinbase to AI's space,
Rouch takes marketing's place.
OpenAI appoints Kate Rouch as first CMO
OpenAI has announced the appointment of Kate Rouch as its inaugural Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Rouch is joining OpenAI from Coinbase, where she served as CMO for three years. The announcement was made via posts on LinkedIn and X.
Rouch has a rich history in the tech industry, having been one of the first marketers at Meta, where she ended her tenure as Vice President and Global Head of Brand and Product Marketing.
In a statement, Rouch reflected on her time at Coinbase, saying, "Over the past 3 years we've been tested. Financially. Legally. Reputationally. Politically.... We've risen to the challenge. Bravely. Formidably." She went on to praise her former team, stating, "The Coinbase marketing and comms team is the best in the game. It's been a profound honour to work alongside them."
Rouch also highlighted the role of marketing in tech companies, noting, "The Coinbase journey proves that smart marketing can transform brand into an asymmetrical business advantage for frontier tech companies - in good times, and bad times."
Rouch will commence her role at OpenAI on Monday.
