ESPN secures exclusive rights to UEFA Women's Champions League

ESPN has secured exclusive multimedia rights to the UEFA Women's Champions League (UWCL) for Australia and New Zealand.

The agreement ensures that every game of the UWCL will be available live on ESPN on Disney+ in both countries. This includes all 75 matches per season, as well as draws, match highlights, and archive content.

Selected live games will also be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN2, accessible via Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV, and Sky NZ.

The opening match day is scheduled for tomorrow featuring Arsenal versus Lyon at 6am AEDT. Other matches on the first day include Real Madrid against Roma, Barcelona facing Bayern Munich, and Manchester United playing against Valerenga.

The agreement is part of ESPN's broader strategy to enhance its commitment to women's sports. This addition complements its existing portfolio, which includes the WNBA, WNBL, and FIBA International Basketball.

The 2025-26 UWCL season will introduce a new 18-team league phase format. The league phase is set to begins tomorrow and will include six matchdays running through mid-December. Knockout rounds are scheduled to commence in February 2026, with the season concluding at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Norway, in May 2026.

Top clubs participating in the league include Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Real Madrid, Benfica, and Manchester United. The competition will also feature several Australian players, such as Sam Kerr, Ellie Carpenter, Steph Catley, Caitlin Foord, and Kyra Cooney-Cross.
