Paramount and LG forge strategic IPTV linear feed partnership in Australia

Paramount Australia and LG Electronics have formed a strategic partnership to integrate IPTV linear feeds into LG Channels.

The collaboration will enable LG Smart TV owners to access live content from channels such as 10, 10 Drama, 10 Comedy, and Nickelodeon without the need for a terrestrial aerial. The service is set to be available later this month and will be delivered through LG's FAST channel offering, LG Channels.

The partnership aims to leverage Paramount Australia's extensive content portfolio alongside LG's position as a leading smart TV manufacturer in Australia.

The initiative is a response to the evolving connected TV (CTV) and streaming markets, with a focus on intuitive user interfaces and on-device content discoverability. Paramount Australia will also secure increased visibility for its streaming services through tile placements on the LG Home page launcher bar and the integration of streaming metadata feeds into LG's webOS.

Vice President of Partner Management and Business Development - Streaming at Paramount Australia, Lachlan Roach, commented, "With the 10 IP linear feed seamlessly integrated into LG Channels, audiences are provided with immediate access to live and scheduled broadcast content, directly from their LG webOS devices."

Roach added, "This landmark development sets a new global standard for IP content delivery and paves the way for future innovation in streaming and broadcast synergy. We have been clear in our strategy of meeting audiences where they want to watch our content, and this distribution partnership is an example of us executing on our strategy."

The partnership also includes the availability of the 10 App and Paramount+ App on LG smart TVs, providing on-demand access to a wide range of shows and exclusive content. LG Channels currently offers over 130 free streaming channels to more than 650,000 monthly users in Australia. Additionally, the collaboration includes LG Australia's sponsorship of 10's cooking show, MasterChef Australia.

General Manager of Home Entertainment Marketing and Content Business at LG Electronics ANZ, Tony Brown stated, "This partnership is a significant milestone in the evolution of TV and content viewing, not just for Australia, but globally. As a major TV manufacturer, LG is proud to be at the forefront of integrating traditional broadcasting with the modern streaming era, and we are excited to take this next step with Paramount Australia."
