Perisher turns Newtown bus stop into 6-seater chairlift
Perisher Ski Resort has launched a new campaign to mark the introduction of a new high-speed six-seater chairlift, the Mt Perisher 6, for the 2025 snow season.
The new chairlift is expected to nearly halve the travel time up Mount Perisher and reduce the number of towers from 27 to 10, while providing more terrain access and panoramic views for visitors.
The campaign is spearheaded by an out of home activation at a bus stop on Newtown's Enmore Road, running from 5th to 18th May 2025. The activation will feature a 6-seater chairlift seat where visitors can take selfies for a chance to win a snow trip to Perisher, with a prize pack including accommodation, lift tickets, lessons, rental gear, and Skitube tickets.
The competition is also accessible to those who share a photo from a previous Perisher snow season on Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #MtP6Opening and tagging Perisher Resort. On 5th May, the bus stop activation will offer free cinnamon donuts and 33 single-day lift tickets for the 2025 season.
The Mt Perisher 6 chairlift represents a significant investment in the resort's history, replacing the Mt Perisher Double and Triple chairs. The new chairlift is engineered to improve guest experience by enhancing flow, reducing wait times, and redistributing skiers across the resort's 44 lifts and four areas.
Vice President and General Manager of Perisher Ski Resort, Nathan Butterworth, said: "We’re so proud of our dedicated team at Perisher, alongside experts at Doppelmayr Australia, who have been working hard all summer in high altitude conditions to make sure the exciting new addition to the slopes, the Mt Perisher 6 chairlift, is ready for our guests this season."
"This will be a history-making season at Perisher, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back in just one month," said Butterworth. "This upgrade means less time waiting on the chair and more time exploring your favourite terrain from Australia’s highest lifted point, with quicker access to Mt Perisher’s iconic runs.
"It’s about creating amazing moments for our guests in the incredible alpine environment that we are lucky to live, play and work in."
The bus stop activation is part of a promotional campaign to highlight the new chairlift and the upcoming snow season.
