DDB Group Sydney snares Caroline Gilroy as head of design

DDB Group Sydney has appointed Caroline Gilroy as its new head of design.

She joins the agency with 20 years of experience in brand and advertising design to the role, having worked in senior design positions across Sydney, London, New York, and Melbourne.

Gilroy is an alumna of Swinburne University of Technology and the Billy Blue College of Graphic Arts. Her career has seen her lead art direction and design for significant rebrands and campaigns, including the refreshed diamond logo for CommBank and the brand identity for OzHarvest. She has also contributed to high-profile projects for Sydney's MLC Centre, the Australian Society of Authors, and Lendlease.

In addition to these achievements, Gilroy was responsible for the "Tasmania - Come Down for Air" campaign for Tourism Tasmania. Her previous roles include serving as Head of Design at Howatson+Company and as Design Director at Re. Her career also includes tenures at M&C Saatchi, Studio Round, and SouthSouthWest in Melbourne.

Chief Creative Officer at DDB Group Sydney, Matt Chandler, said: "Caroline's appointment is a key addition to our creative leadership team. Building a strong culture of design, and a deeper commitment to craft, will lift everything we do across the group. We're very fortunate to have Caroline join us in this role - we're excited to have her talents as part of the DDB Sydney journey ahead."

Gilroy's work has been recognised with awards from the Sydney Design Awards, Cannes Lions, B&T Awards, Mumbrella Awards, and Spikes Asia. Her appointment at DDB Group Sydney is effective immediately.

"I’m thrilled to be leading the design team at DDB Sydney. DDB is such a powerhouse in the industry, and I’m so excited to be part of an organisation that truly values craft. Working alongside such a talented group of strategic and creative thinkers is both a dream role and an absolute privilege," said Gilroy.
