Sky News Australia reaches record app users during dynamic election campaign
Sky News Australia partnered with independent media agency Kaimera to execute a five-week national marketing campaign during the 2025 Federal Election. The campaign utilised a mix of outdoor, print, digital, and radio advertising to engage audiences across the country.
A key feature of the campaign was the use of dynamic out-of-home advertising technology, which delivered real-time election results on election night. This technology allowed for the integration of a live data feed of the two-party preferred vote and seat count from Sky News' live broadcast. The data was displayed on digital out-of-home sites located in the central business districts of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
The campaign was overseen by Sky News Chief Election Analyst Tom Connell and the Sky News Decision Desk. Data was transmitted to digital displays situated in high traffic roadside, bus shelter, and street furniture locations, ensuring maximum visibility.
Kaimera collaborated with advertising partners QMS and Convo Ink to bring this campaign to life.
Chief Client Officer at Kaimera, Anna Magliano, said: "We are so pleased to support this election campaign in partnership with Sky News, using a media approach designed to keep voters informed in real time. By integrating a live feed of the two-party preferred vote and seat count from Sky News' broadcast into strategically selected OOH sites, ensuring the message remained timely and visible during key moments on election night."
Head of Marketing & Communications at Sky News Australia, Emma Van Der Aa, said: "We couldn't think of a better moment to launch our first dynamic out-of-home campaign than the biggest political event of the year. Thanks to our partners we showcased live results to high traffic sites in key locations; all powered by our election experts at the Sky News Decision Desk."
The campaign reportedly contributed to Sky News Australia's highest day on record for daily active users. Additionally, the Sky News app achieved the position of the number one Australian commercial news app in the iTunes News Chart during the campaign period.
