Digital news audiences increased 2 per cent to 15.75m Australians, or 84 per cent of the population aged 14-plus ,according to November numbers from Enhanced Media Metrics Australia (emma).

Totting up print and digital combined, news publishers reach 17.71m people aged 14-plus, or 94 per cent of Australians, the figures suggest. Print readership now stands at 12.89 million, or 69 per cent, on the same basis.

People still want "premium, trusted content" according to NewsMediaWorks CEO, Peter Miller. He reiterated that the firm's research suggests "trust in content and ads increases consumer intent to purchase, which provides a powerful return on investment to advertisers”.
