Snapchat, NFL tap into Super Bowl hype with new AR experience
Snapchat has partnered with the National Football League (NFL) to deliver new interactive experiences for Super Bowl LIX.
The collaboration marks the introduction of the NFL x Snapchat Creator Program, which aims to engage fans through a variety of digital content and augmented reality (AR) features.
The Creator Program will feature several prominent creators, including Katie Austin, Ross Smith, Jack Mancuso, and Treasure Wilson. These creators will contribute to the digital content surrounding the Super Bowl, enhancing fan interaction and engagement.
A significant aspect of this partnership is the integration of Snapchat Cam into the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the venue for Super Bowl LIX. This marks the second time a Super Bowl host stadium will incorporate Snapchat’s AR technology. "This year, the NFL will integrate Snapchat Cam into Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, making it the second Super Bowl host stadium to feature Snapchat’s augmented reality technology," stated the press release.
Snapchat will also offer a range of AR Lenses, including a dedicated Super Bowl LIX Lens and an NFL Live Jersey Lens. The NFL Live Jersey Lens will allow fans to virtually try on official jerseys using Snapchat's Live Garment Transfer technology.
On Super Bowl Sunday, Snapchat will host a dedicated Super Bowl AR Bar and Lens Collection, providing fans with an array of interactive options to enhance their viewing experience.
Snapchat has reported high engagement levels with sports content among its users. According to Snap, 80% of Snapchatters in the U.S. plan to watch Super Bowl LIX, while nearly 9 in 10 Snapchatters engage with sports content on a weekly basis.
Globally, Snapchat users consume more than 25 million minutes of sports content on Spotlight daily.
