VML, Burson time campaign against child marriage for International Day of the Girl

VML and Burson in partnership with Plan International have ramped up the "Not Ready for a Wedding" anti-child marriage campaign ahead of tomorrow's International Day of the Girl.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about the prevalence of child marriage worldwide. According to the campaign, "Every year, 12 million girls are married before their 18th birthday – roughly one every three seconds".

Timed to coincide with International Day of the Girl tomorrow (11 Oct), the campaign seeks to highlight this pressing issue through a multi-platform approach. It will be featured across various channels, including film, outdoor digital displays, social media, and editorial coverage.

Phoebe Tonkin, known for her role as a Plan International Ambassador, is actively involved in the campaign. Her participation is expected to draw attention to the cause, leveraging her public profile to engage a wider audience.

The campaign has also garnered support from Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia, who has recently become a patron. Mostyn hosted a high-profile launch event to mark the beginning of the campaign, further emphasising the importance of the issue at hand.
