AMI names former Mars marketer Bronwyn Powell as new CEO

Bronwyn Powell has been named the Australian Marketing Institute’s new CEO, bringing extensive marketing and leadership experience as the organisation looks to grow and deliver new benefits for members.

  • She takes over from Narendra Prasad, who will continue as CFO and Company Secretary.

The Australian Marketing Institute, a peak body for marketers in Australia, has named former Mars Food Australia’s Bronwyn Powell as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Powell worked as Marketing Director at Mars for the past three years, and at Oporto, McDonalds and Coca Cola Amatil prior to that.

AMI Chair’s, Andrew Thornton, said Powell would help transform and grow the organisation’s brand and place for marketers.

“Bronwyn brings to this role extensive experience in marketing leadership, in particular more than 30 years’ experience in transforming and positioning brands for growth. At the heart of her success has been her ability to develop innovative new concepts and strategies that connect with consumers and change businesses.”

Powell would, Thornton said, lead “the next phase of the organisation’s development, building on the sound footings already in place. Moving forward, the focus will be on continuing to devise and deliver valued benefits for our members that will really make a difference to their career aspirations, regardless of what career stage they are at”.

In a press release, Powell said she was looking forward to the opportunities with the role. “There is no doubt in my mind that professional marketers need a strong and supportive industry body to help them navigate their career and to provide access to first class continuing professional development opportunities,” she said.  

Powell takes over from Narendra Prasad, who would continue as Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary.
