Salesforce unveils AI agents and first unified POS system for retailers
Salesforce has revealed two AI agent innovations across its retail product offering at NRF’s Retail’s Big Show including its first point of sale (POS) system.
According to the vendor, the innovations aim to address the reported issue that 78% of store associates are unable to access a single, actionable view of their shoppers. The new POS system unifies online and in-store shopping data on a single platform, aiming to deliver seamless, unified shopping experiences across both physical and digital realms.
Key feature updates include Agentforce for Retail, a library of pre-built skills that make it easier for retailers to create AI-powered agents to automate tasks like order management, guided shopping, appointment scheduling, and loyalty promotion creation. Additional autonomous AI agents are included to boost capacity across marketing, commerce, merchandising, and store operations.
The innovations also introduce scalable digital labour, enabling retailers to drive productivity further and focus on high-value tasks. The Retail Cloud with Modern POS is introduced with the acquisition of PredictSpring, marking the 15th cloud in Salesforce's Industries portfolio. The Retail Cloud provides retailers with a unified interface to serve customers more efficiently and includes features like Mobile POS for in-store shopping, Clienteling, Endless Aisle, Omnichannel Fulfilment, and Inventory Management.
