Databricks, Palantir forge strategic partnership to enhance AI integration

Databricks and Palantir Technologies have entered a strategic product partnership aimed at enhancing the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The collaboration seeks to combine Palantir's AI operating system with Databricks’ platform, which is known for its strengths in AI, data warehousing, and data engineering.

The partnership is positioned as a move to lower technical and operational barriers to leveraging Generative AI (GenAI). It is expected to increase customer value by deploying autonomous workflows into production. The integration aims to provide an open and scalable data architecture by merging Palantir’s Ontology System with Databricks’ processing scale and data platform.

Several high-profile customers, including the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and bp, are already benefiting from this partnership. The integration includes Databricks Unity Catalog through Delta Sharing and Palantir’s multimodal security system.

Chairman of the Board of Databricks Federal, Rory Patterson, said: "Databricks and Palantir customers in the public and private sectors were already looking for ways to integrate the two technologies to optimise performance and eliminate redundant costs.

"Over the past four months, we have been working with joint customers who have been amazed at how our two technologies seamlessly integrate into a unified, open, and scalable data architecture through the combination of Unity Catalog through Delta Sharing with the Palantir system. Combining Palantir’s fast delivery of business value with Databricks’ leading Data Intelligence Platform will deliver ‘the best of both worlds’ to our joint customers."

The partnership is designed to help customers govern and secure their data estate while maintaining efficiency and keeping total cost of ownership (TCO) low. The integration is already serving mission-critical outcomes for customers in both public and private sectors.

Palantir’s Global Head of Commercial, Ted Mabrey, said: "Operational integration of Palantir and Databricks reduces costs and complexity for our customers while providing a foundation to accelerate their operations into the age of AI... Palantir and Databricks are aligned to deliver on our customers’ mission-critical objectives, and this partnership has already proven to accelerate those outcomes. The ‘best of both worlds’ technical approach means the best outcomes for our mutual customers."

Databricks is a Data and AI company with over 10,000 organisations worldwide using its Data Intelligence Platform. Palantir is known for providing enterprise operating systems and foundational software.

EVP Technology at bp, Emeka Emembolu, said: "A robust data foundation is key to delivering bp's reset strategy and our long-term competitiveness. Palantir and Databricks are vital partners for the next phase of our digital transformation. By building on the work we are doing together, we will be empowering teams across bp, maximising value of our data and accelerating AI adoption."
