Oracle Red Bull Racing expands AI and Cloud use for 2025 F1 season

Oracle Red Bull Racing (ORBR) is set to expand its utilisation of Oracle Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies for the 2025 Formula One season. The team will initiate a pilot program employing Generative AI (GenAI) to assist in reviewing sporting regulations and lodging protests against race penalties within a 30-minute window post-race.

The team will leverage Oracle's AI and cloud capabilities to conduct more simulations weekly, optimise powertrain development, and standardise infrastructure across its factory and tracks. ORBR aims to increase simulation speeds by 10% for the 2025 season using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), following a 25% increase in speeds since 2021.

Red Bull Ford Powertrains will utilise OCI for the development of its next-generation sustainable fuel engine, slated for the 2026 season. ORBR will also standardise its trackside infrastructure using Oracle Virtualisation, Oracle Linux, and Oracle Cloud Native Environment.

CEO and Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner, said: "Since the start of our partnership, Oracle has given us a technical advantage that has helped us win races, championships, and fans. Performance gains are the lifeblood of competition in F1, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is the best choice to help us reach our goals on the track. From the factory to the podium, Oracle Cloud and AI technologies continue to provide the insights that help make Oracle Red Bull Racing one of the most successful teams in Formula One history."

The Paddock, ORBR's fan engagement platform, has experienced significant growth since 2021, now boasting hundreds of thousands of members across 156 countries. This platform is part of ORBR's strategy to enhance fan interaction and engagement.

Senior vice president of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Karan Batta, said: "Oracle Red Bull Racing has approached its technology strategy with the same relentless focus on performance that has underpinned its dominance on the track. Our collective success is a testament to the performance and flexibility of Oracle Cloud and our teams’ collaborative effort to push the boundaries of innovation."

The 2025 Formula One season will commence with the Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, scheduled from March 14-16.
