Afterpay enters Australian not-for-profit sector with SupporterHub partnership
Afterpay has announced a partnership with SupporterHub to introduce buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) services to Australia's not-for-profit (NFP) sector. This collaboration marks Afterpay's first venture into the Australian NFP and charity space, aiming to offer flexible payment solutions for donors.
SupporterHub, a charity customer relationship management (CRM) provider, will integrate Afterpay's BNPL service into its platform. This integration is the first of its kind for SupporterHub, which offers a platform designed to streamline fundraising, donor management, and supporter engagement for non-profits.
The partnership is anticipated to "revolutionize charitable giving in Australia" by allowing donors to spread their contributions across four interest-free installments. This approach is intended to make donations easier to manage alongside other spending commitments. The initiative is expected to appeal particularly to younger generations, such as Gen Z and Millennials, who are known to value flexibility and transparency in financial transactions.
Katrina Konstas, EVP and Country Manager for Afterpay APAC, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We're thrilled to enter the Australian NFP and charity space with SupporterHub as our partner. Our mission is to provide financial freedom and flexibility, and we're thrilled to extend this to donors eager to support meaningful causes. Together with SupporterHub, we're enabling charities to maximise their impact by making generosity more accessible."
Cancer Chicks will be the first Australian charity to offer BNPL as a payment method through this partnership. Founded in 2019, Cancer Chicks supports young women aged 18-35 affected by cancer and severe chronic and terminal illnesses. Michele Molnar, Co-Founder & Director of Cancer Chicks, noted the potential benefits of the collaboration, saying, "Afterpay is a trusted and widely used platform among our core demographic of young women, making it an ideal partner for Cancer Chicks. This collaboration offers a powerful opportunity to strengthen our fundraising efforts—enabling supporters to make meaningful contributions in more accessible, flexible ways. Beyond donations, partnering with Afterpay also opens the door to their highly engaged user base through their app and affiliate network, helping us reach more young women, grow our community, and continue creating life-changing impact for those navigating cancer."
Peter McCormick, Founder and CEO of SupporterHub, highlighted the alignment of Afterpay's addition with their platform's goals. "The addition of Afterpay to our platform aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering innovative tools for the NFP sector. We believe this partnership will transform how Australian charities engage with donors, ensuring more support for the incredible work they do," he said.
