Telstra's new venture, Versent shifts with Infosys, Cloud paths intertwined.
Telstra sells majority stake in Versent Group to Infosys for $233 million
Telstra is selling a 75% stake in Versent Group, which includes Versent, Epicon and Purple Digital, as part of a new $233 million deal struck with Infosys.
The telco cited the decision as part of its Connected Future 30 strategy, which aims to focus on core connectivity and reset its Enterprise business. Versent Group encompasses Versent, Epicon, Telstra Purple Digital, and associated Cloud Access products, providing expertise in cloud-native and digital transformation.
Telstra will maintain a 25% minority stake in Versent Group following the transaction. The $233 million pricetag includes a $175 million upfront payment. Additional deferred payments will be made based on performance and other conditions. The deal is not anticipated to result in any material gain or loss for Telstra, based on the carrying value of Versent Group.
The projected revenue for Versent Group in FY25 is $397 million, although this is subject to final adjustments. The completion of the deal is expected before the end of March 2026, contingent on conditions such as employee and union consultations. Versent Group will retain its brand and continue to operate as a stand-alone business.
Infosys, a global leader in digital services and consulting, has over 320,000 employees and operates in more than 59 countries. The partnership with Infosys is seen as a significant step in enhancing Versent Group’s growth and impact across the region.
Telstra CEO Vicki Brady stated, "For our enterprise portfolio, this means sharpening our focus on the key capabilities that deliver on the strategy and building deep partnerships that maximise the value of our networks." She added, "Versent Group has earned its reputation by helping Australian enterprises make the shift from traditional technology to modern cloud environments – delivering digital transformation at scale."

For customers, it means they can continue to benefit from Telstra’s leading connectivity and the local agility and specialised engineering of Versent Group, now enhanced by the global capabilities and market insights of Infosys."
Infosys Chief Executive Officer, Salil Parekh, said Infosys’ capabilities to enable transformative AI-first solutions will complement Versent Group’s cloud-first digital foundation.
"Expanding our trusted collaboration with Telstra, with whom we share a valued relationship, unveils a new opportunity to further accelerate the innovation agenda for enterprises across the region," she said.
