Cloud vendor Cloudian appoints new leadership amid rising demand in Asia Pacific & Japan

Cloudian has reshuffled its leadership team for the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, appointing Victoria Meldrum as the new head of marketing. Meldrum steps into the role previously held by Anna Christensen, who has transitioned to become the head of APJ channels and alliances. These appointments come as Cloudian experiences increased demand for its technology, driven by growing data needs and uncertainties surrounding tariffs.

Meldrum brings over two decades of experience to her new role, having previously worked with notable companies such as Fortinet, Menulog, and Canon. In her capacity as head of marketing, Meldrum plans to strengthen joint marketing initiatives with Cloudian's partner base across the APJ region, with a particular focus on Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), India, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

"Cloudian's unique partner-led model and engagement was a major drawcard for joining the company. No one else in the market offers the same breath of technology in the increasingly important object storage space, exemplified by the company's growing partnerships with NVIDIA and other AI leaders," Meldrum stated.

Christensen, who has a background with IT distributors Nextgen and Exclusive Networks, will now lead Cloudian's channels and alliances in the APJ region. She highlighted the benefits of Cloudian's software-defined approach, which allows customers to upgrade data storage on existing hardware, thus avoiding tariff-inflated prices. "Our software-defined approach has given flexibility, choice and control to our customers and partners across APJ. Now, it's also helping to shield them from tariff costs and uncertainty while establishing their foundation for data-centric applications, including AI workloads that will drive competitive advantage," Christensen said.

Cloudian is also opening its inventory of pre-configured appliances, acquired before the imposition of tariffs, to the APJ market. This move is part of the company's strategy to mitigate the impact of tariff costs on its customers.

In addition to these leadership changes, Cloudian is collaborating with distributor Nextgen on the Connect initiative. This programme is designed to support tech start-ups in the ANZ region by providing growth, lead generation, sales finalisation, and market representation services to partners.

James Wright, Cloudian's managing director for Asia Pacific & Japan, expressed confidence in the new appointments. "Anna and Victoria are testament to the great talent we have and are adding across our APJ business. They also embody the community and channel-focused approach that is engrained in everything we do and gives back to the incredible APJ and A/NZ ICT ecosystems," Wright stated.

Cloudian positions itself as a leader in secure, S3-compatible AI data lake platforms, offering military-grade security and seamless cloud integration. Its solutions support a range of AI tools, including PyTorch, TensorFlow, Kafka, and Arrow, reinforcing its commitment to providing robust and flexible data storage solutions.
