Eddie and Jimmy (Nine Radio) debuted in the Top 200 Australian-Made Ranker. MAFS Funny Podcast (NOVA Entertainment), Dear Rachelle (News Corp Australia), The Circus (DM Podcasts), and CLOUD (ARN/iHeart) debuted in both the Top Podcast Ranker and Top 200 Australian-Made Ranker.
iHeart was talking up its unprecedented run as Australia's #1 Podcast Publisher, achieving its 59th consecutive #1 ranking in the March Australian Podcast Ranker - and reaching a record 7.8 million listeners (+9%) and 24.7 million downloads (+10%). This marks the biggest audience ever for ARN's iHeart. In all, iHeart had 47 titles in the Top 200.
The standout performer last month was Stalked, the true crime series from BBC Studios, which leapt 67 places to #8 overall, claiming the title of Australia's #1 true crime podcast (711,808 monthly downloads, 454,278 listeners). The podcast is driven by its urgent storytelling and real-life ordeal of 25-year-old Hannah Mossman Moore.
"We are delighted to see BBC Studios' produced podcast Stalked connect so deeply with Australian audiences,” Louise La Grange, BBC Studios' SVP, BBC Audio, Digital News & Streaming, said. “It is an affecting example of how BBC Audio's groundbreaking storytelling can start conversations and strongly engage listeners. It is a further example of our successful ongoing partnership with iHeart to bring these important stories to listeners in Australia."
ARN's Head of Digital Audio, Corey Layton, added: "With more Australians listening than ever before, iHeart's record results reflect the power of combining world-class storytelling with unrivalled scale. From global hits like Stalked to the most loved local titles, we're delivering premium audio experiences that cut through - creating enormous opportunity not just for brands looking to connect with engaged audiences, but for ARN as Australia's podcasting powerhouse."
Other show highlights include Life Uncut at #10 (Australia's #1 Relationship Podcast), The Kyle & Jackie O Show at #14 (the #1 radio show podcast), and The Daily Aus at #20.
The top sales representative on the rankings continues to be LiSTNR (SCA), followed by ARN/iHeart and NOVA Entertainment.
“The March Triton Top 200 Australian Podcast Ranker has set new records for LiSTNR,” said Grant Tothill, SCA's Executive Head LiSTNR Audience and Growth, said. “LiSTNR retained its position as the number one Sales Representation Network, with 9,353,203 monthly listeners, the highest audience ever recorded on the Australian Ranker. This result underscores LiSTNR’s continued leadership in the commercial podcast marketplace, driven by its strategic investment into known audiences and advanced AdTech solutions, which currently account for 60% of all podcast advertising campaigns.”
LiSTNR claims more podcasts in the top 10 than any other podcast network - The Mel Robbins Podcast, Hamish & Andy, It’s A Lot with Abbie Chatfield and The Imperfects.
Nine moved up one place in March to enter the top 5 by sales representation, with more than 1.4 million listeners tuning in across its growing slate of audio offerings.
