Bear Meets Eagle on Fire, Colenso BBDO Auckland take home Gold Pencils at One Show 2025
The One Show 2025 has recognised the creative prowess of agencies in Australia and New Zealand, awarding a total of 23 Pencils, including two prestigious Gold Pencils.
Australia's Gold Pencil was awarded to Bear Meets Eagle On Fire Sydney (BMEOF), in collaboration with +61 Sydney, Revolver Sydney, and Rumble Studios Sydney. Their work, "Better On a Better Mobile Network" for Telstra, was recognised in the Moving Image Craft & Production category.
BMEOF also picked up three Silver Pencils for the campaign in the categories: 'Film & Video, TV, VOD, & Online - 30 Seconds and Under - Series', 'Moving Image Craft & Production, Writing - Series', and 'Moving Image Craft & Production, Production Design'. It also took home Bronze in 'Moving Image Craft & Production, Direction - Series'.
In New Zealand, the Gold Pencil was awarded to Colenso BBDO Auckland. They worked alongside EssenceMediacom Auckland, GRC Partners Auckland, Porter Novelli Auckland, and Nexus Studios London on the project "Adoptable. By Pedigree." for Mars NZ. This campaign was recognised in the Creative Use of Data category.
Overall, Australia secured 1 Gold, 4 Silver, 6 Bronze, and 25 Merits at The One Show 2025. New Zealand achieved 1 Gold, 6 Silver, 5 Bronze, and 4 Merits. Globally, FCB New York led the awards with 35 Gold Pencils, including 28 for their work "Spreadbeats" for Spotify.
Other Australian agencies recognised included Droga5, which took home a Bronze Pencil in the 'Moving Image Craft & Production' category for its work on “The Comments Section” for Meat & Livestock Australia, while Ogilvy Australia picked up two Bronze Pencils, one in 'Experiential & Immersive, Commerce' for it's work on KFC's "Kentucky Fly Chicken", and the other in 'Experiential & Immersive, Experiential & Immersive for Good' for its work on “The Spot” for La Roche-Posay x Bristol Myers Squibb. TBWA Sydney and sister agencies Fabric and Eleven PR also took home Bronze in 'Health & Wellness, Public Relations' for Modibodi's “Shark Week” campaign.
The One Show 2025 saw participation from a diverse range of entries, with "A total of 19,860 pieces from 62 countries" being submitted, according to The One Club for Creativity. The awards recognised creativity across 55 countries, with the jury awarding "157 Gold Pencils, 197 Silvers, 270 Bronze, and 1,026 Merits".
The One Show 2025 awards ceremony is set to be hosted by comedian and actor Leslie Jones. Known for her work on "Saturday Night Live" and her stand-up comedy, Jones is a three-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee.
The One Show 2025 Special Awards, including Best of Show and Best of Discipline, will be announced on May 16, 2025, during Creative Week in New York. Creative Week 2025 will also feature events such as the Young Ones Student Awards, ADC 104th Annual Awards, and the inaugural Creative Week AI Creative Challenge.
