“Our data shows that 90 per cent of the 2019 Sydney CBD audience has returned, resuming their normal behaviours and activities, including a strong return to workplaces,” QMS General Manager of City of Sydney, Jemma Enright, said.

Out of home company QMS says its audience and insights platform, Q-Data, recorded the highest levels of visitors to the Sydney CBD since 2019 – at 90 per cent of the pre-pandemic average.

What you need to know:

  • QMS says visitor numbers to Sydney’s CBD have reached 90 per cent of 2019 levels – the highest since before the pandemic.
  • The company operates the City of Sydney screen network, 800 screens across 33 suburbs that generate $138 billion for the Australian economy.

Footfall in Sydney has reached 90 per cent of pre-Covid levels, outdoor media company QMS says.

Despite extreme weather events and Covid impacts, the company’s Q-Data platform found the number of visitors in Sydney’s CBD was at its highest level since 2019.

“Our data shows that 90 per cent of the 2019 Sydney CBD audience has returned, resuming their normal behaviours and activities, including a strong return to workplaces,” QMS General Manager of City of Sydney, Jemma Enright, said.

“That figure will keep on growing, as companies continue to collaborate with employees on return to office experiences and the City of Sydney continues its investment in hallmark events and marketing activities that draw people back into the city.”

The figures are an example to promote QMS’s new City of Sydney screen network, which it won the 10-year agreement to operate. Ninety per cent of the inventory – across 800 screens – is digital, and the city represents seven per cent of Australia’s GDP, or $138 billion.
