EMG/Gravity Media and Supercars Media gear up for extensive 2024 championship coverage
EMG/Gravity Media in Australia has announced a collaboration with Supercars Media to deliver extensive coverage of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship. The partnership aims to provide over 400 hours of broadcast content, available on FOX Sports, Kayo, the Seven Network, 7plus, and various international platforms.
The coverage will span a distance of over 40,000 kilometers across ten months, covering 13 events. The championship will commence with the Thrifty Sydney 500, scheduled from February 21-23, and will conclude in Adelaide from November 27-30.
The collaboration will utilise high-definition outside broadcast trucks and new cloud-based broadcast technologies. The opening round in Sydney will feature 25 cameras to capture all on-track moments. Each of the 24 Supercars will be equipped with four in-car and on-board cameras, designed by EMG/Gravity Media.
The Repco Bathurst 1000, one of the highlights of the championship, will employ 200 cameras across various locations, including on-track, in pits, in the air, and in cars. EMG/Gravity Media will also provide technology and systems for Supercars' team radios and 32 channels of isolated camera coverage.
The Gravity Review System, developed by EMG/Gravity Media, will be used by motorsports judiciary and race control. This system is part of the technological offerings that EMG/Gravity Media brings to the partnership.
Nathan Prendergast, Supercars Head of Broadcast, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating: "It’s great to be working with EMG / Gravity Media again to bring Supercars to fans all over the world. The scale of what we do each season is massive, and having a partner like EMG / Gravity Media, with their technology and expertise, makes all the difference. From in-car cameras to cloud-based production, we’re always looking for new ways to bring fans closer to the action, and this partnership helps us do exactly that."
Ben Madgwick, Sales Director at EMG/Gravity Media in Australia, also commented on the partnership: "EMG / Gravity Media is proud to continue its long partnership with Supercars as their preferred supplier for host broadcast, in-car and team radio communications, on-site edit and post-production along with Supercars on-track requirements for this year’s Championship. Following our recent collaboration with Supercars Media for the Bathurst 12 Hour, we are excited to return to Sydney Motorsport Park and the opening round of what will be a terrific Championship. Our partnership with Supercars signifies a shared passion for delivering cutting-edge, high-quality broadcast experiences as we capture and elevate the experience for fans at the track and watching those watching live on Fox Sports and the Seven Network."
The collaboration between EMG/Gravity Media and Supercars Media began in 2013. EMG/Gravity Media is involved in major sports events in Australia, including the Australian Open, Melbourne Cup, and Cricket Australia. The company also works on entertainment projects such as The Voice, Australian Idol, and Dancing with the Stars.
