Triton Digital releases August 2025 Australian Podcast Ranker
Triton Digital has unveiled its August 2025 Australian Podcast Ranker, detailing the most popular podcasts in the country for the month of August. The ranker, which spans from August 1 to August 31, 2025, is based on monthly listeners and adheres to the IAB Podcast Technical Measurement Guidelines.
Kenna McCarthy stated, "Triton Digital’s August 2025 Australian Podcast Ranker is out, offering a glimpse into the most downloaded and listened-to shows of the month in Australia."
The Top Podcast Ranker and the Top 300 Australian-Made Ranker were led by "Hamish & Andy" from LiSTNR (SCA), which maintained its position at number one. The second and third positions in both rankers were occupied by "ABC News Top Stories" from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and "Mamamia Out Loud" from Mamamia, respectively.
A Triton Digital press release confirmed, "The Top Podcast Ranker and Top 300 Australian-Made Ranker are ranked by monthly listeners, in accordance with IAB Podcast Technical Measurement Guidelines."
The press release further stated, "In August, the Top International Podcast Ranker once again saw 'Hamish & Andy' (LiSTNR (SCA)) hold the #1 spot, followed again by 'ABC News Top Stories' (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) at #2, and 'Mamamia Out Loud' (Mamamia) at #3."
Triton's Demos+ tool, which utilises opt-in, download-based behaviour data, identified the top categories for podcast listeners in August as News, Society & Culture, and Sports. "Triton’s Demos+ tool – which leverages opt-in, download-based behavior data – found that the top categories for listeners in August again ranked News at #1, Society & Culture at #2, and Sports at #3," according to the press release.
The ranker also highlighted several international and Australian-made podcast debuts. Among the international entries were "Serial" from the New York Times, "13 Minutes to the Moon" from BBC, "This Working Life" from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, "Life of Brian" from Clubby Sports, and "She Rises with Ashy & Tijana" from Podshape.
New Australian-made podcasts included "Sydney Now with Clinton Maynard" from Nine Radio, "The Agenda Setters" from ARN/iHeart, and "Don't Shoot The Messenger" from Sports Entertainment Network (SEN).
Additionally, cross-market debuts featured "WA News Bulletins" from Nine Radio, "SBS To the Extreme" from Special Broadcasting Service, and "Radio National Presents" from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
The Australian Podcast Ranker includes a wide range of participating publishers. These include Adore Beauty, All Ears English, Audioboom, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, ARN/iHeart, BBC Studios, Bravecasting, Clubby Sports, DM Podcasts, Equity Mates Media, HODD Media, Johns Media, LiSTNR (SCA), Mamamia, Motorsport Podcast Network, News Corp Australia, New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME), Nine, NOVA Entertainment, Podshape, RSN Racing & Sport, Schwartz Media, Shameless Media, Special Broadcasting Service, Sports Entertainment Network (SEN), Sport Social Podcast Network, Squiz Media, The Guardian, New York Times, We Don’t Have Time For This, West Australian Newspapers, and Wondery.
