Seven appoints Clare Gill to head government and public affairs

Seven has appointed a new Head of Regulatory and Government Affairs, Clare Gill, as incumbent Justine McCarthy takes on government role.

Seven West Media has appointed Clare Gill as Head of Regulatory and Government Affairs, effective 1 February.

Gill's remit is Government and regulatory affairs, corporate affairs, industry group representation and external stakeholder management. She will also provide strategic input to business strategy. 

Former division head, Justine McCarthy, is taking on a new role as Senior Adviser to the Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP.

Seven CEO James Warbuton said McCarthy had made a major contribution since joining the firm in 2012, and said her selection by the Minister "is a tribute to to her abilities".

Welcoming Gill to the business, Warburton said she has arrived at a "critical time" for industry. 

"Clare has a long and impressive track record in government, regulatory and corporate affairs, as well as policy development, industry relations and business strategy,” he said. “She is a strong addition to our executive team.”

Gill’s career includes four years as Group Director, Regulatory Affairs and Spectrum Strategy, at Nine and five years as Head of Government and Corporate Affairs at SingTel Optus.
