1.25M watch Team Vitality triumph at record-breaking IEM Melbourne 2025

Team Vitality emerged victorious at the Intel® Extreme Masters (IEM) Melbourne 2025, securing a $285,000 first-place prize. IEM is one of Australia's premium live esports events, attracting tens of thousands of guests to the venue, and over a million more online. Sponsors include Intel, DHL and ExBet. In addition to this victory, Team Vitality also claimed an extra $1,000,000 for completing the ESL Grand Slam. The event took place at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, from April 25 to 27, 2025.

The IEM Melbourne 2025 marked a significant milestone as the largest esports tournament ever held in Australia, surpassing previous attendance and viewership records. A total of 26,000 fans attended the sold-out event, while over 1,253,000 viewers tuned in simultaneously across various livestreaming platforms, making it the most viewed esports event hosted in the country.

Team Vitality's achievement in winning the ESL Grand Slam places them as the fifth team in history to accomplish this feat. Among the team members, ropz stands out as the second player ever to win the ESL Grand Slam twice. Additionally, ZywOo was recognised as the DHL MVP of IEM Melbourne 2025.

The tournament commenced with the IEM Melbourne Group Stage on April 21, 2025, featuring 16 competing teams. Team Vitality clinched their victory by defeating Team Falcons in the Grand Final, securing a 3-2 win in triple overtime.

The event also included the legendary Caches showmatch, where Team Australia triumphed over Team UK, marking their fifth consecutive win. The IEM Expo, held alongside the tournament, featured exhibitors such as Intel® and DHL, showcasing the latest in games and technology.

Marc Winther, Director Game Ecosystems - Counter-Strike at ESL FACEIT Group, commented on the event's success and the decision to host it in Melbourne. "As the world's longest running pro gaming tour, Intel Extreme Masters has been taking place around the world for almost 20 years. This year, we made the decision to bring the tournament into a new city, and one of the world's most iconic sporting arenas - a decision that was rewarded with a record sell-out crowd," said Winther.

Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, extended his congratulations to Team Vitality. "With its Grand Slam, Vitality has elevated France to the top of esports and made our colors shine. Congratulations to the entire team!" stated Macron.

The IEM Melbourne 2025 not only highlighted the competitive prowess of Team Vitality but also set new benchmarks for esports events in Australia, both in terms of attendance and viewership.
