The Media i Awards are one of a kind, dedicated to recognising the best media sales people in Australia. The judging panel is the only one that matters: The thousands of sales-facing media agency professionals that understand better than anyone what excellence looks like – day in, day out.

The winners are collectively chosen on merit, due reward for over-performance in an ever changing, ever challenging marketplace.

The Media i Sales Representation Awards are the only programme purely focused on media sales. The winning teams and individuals are chosen by their opposite numbers within media agencies – 2,147 of them - representing 80 per cent of those in media-facing roles.

We take that approach because agencies appreciate more fully than most the evolution underway within the media landscape: Ongoing change across media and communications company holding structures; audience fragmentation; the continued encroachment of major digital platforms and big tech; and the need to invest and innovate to maintain relevance against the backdrop of a worsening economic outlook.

Yet change also presents opportunity for the best operators to continue to deliver results, and the Media i Awards, supported by principle sponsor The Media Federation of Australia, give agencies a platform to demonstrate their support and understanding of the key role played by media owners in bringing audiences to advertisers.

The Awards, held 13th November at The Ivy Ballroom in Sydney, “will not only recognise the professionalism and excellence of sales teams and individuals, but the success they achieved for clients in collaboration with media agencies”, said Media i CEO, Charles Parry–Okeden.

“The popularity and importance of the Media i Awards has been proven once again with this year’s voting reflecting a record number, representing over 80 per cent of the media owner facing agency fraternity. Finalists should feel immensely proud of their nomination”, said Media i managing director, Chris Winterburn.

Each agency respondent voted for their best media sales teams and representative in the respective channels they engaged in during 2019. With the voting now closed, finalists will compete in the following categories:

• Sales Person of the Year – by Market, by Category (Television, Digital, Outdoor, Magazines, Newspaper, Radio)
