McDonnell: Exiting journalism to lead marketing at PHD Sydney.

Mi3 senior writer Josh McDonnell is leaving the business for PHD Sydney. He joins the Omnicom-owned network on 11 October to head up marketing.

What you need to know:

  • Mi3 senior journalist Josh McDonnell is leaving the business for PHD Sydney
  • He's been appointed Marketing Director.

Mi3’s Josh McDonnell will next month head to PHD Sydney to lead marketing.

As senior writer, McDonnell owned the media beat at Mi3, working the channels and chasing down major scoops. Since joining in January 2020 he somehow managed to survive two lockdowns while working closely with executive editor Paul McIntyre.

McDonnell also interviewed some of Australia’s smartest marketers, which should prove instructive in his new role.

“Mi3 will now be conducting a forensic analysis of PHD’s media activities,” said McIntyre.

McDonnell will be missed. Mi3 wishes to place on record our gratitude for his commitment, often in the face of coms flak, and willingness to put in the hours to help deliver a quality product, no matter what.
