Ex Edelman, Audible Australia exec Matthew Gain takes helm at eHarmony parent
Former Edelman Australia executive and Audible Australia boss Matthew Gain has been appointed as chief executive of eHarmony parent company ParshipMeet Group (PMG).
The business, the world's third largest dating and video company, owns a range of matchmaking brands, including eHarmony and Parship Group, as well as social entertainment applications such as LOVOO, MeetMe, and Tagged. The company claims to facilitate over one billion matches and more than 100 million video streams annually.
Gain joins PMG from Amazon, where he spent most of the past decade in seniors roles as the tech juggernaut's audio book product, Audible, after joining as Audible Australia country manager in 2016. He went on to become the business' senior vice president for APAC, Japan and India, and in 2022 took the helm in Europe region. Gain's previous experience includes five years at Edelman, most notably as the communications consultancy's Australian chief operating officer.
In the new role, Gain will oversee a portfolio of nine apps and collaborate with 550 team members across seven global locations. He will be based in Hamburg, Germany, but will continue to reside in Berlin, where ParshipMeet Group also maintains an office. The company’s shareholders include ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE and General Atlantic.
"From 1 March, I will start a new relationship with ParshipMeet Group as its CEO," said Gain in a post made to LinkedIn. "The company has been at the forefront of creating human connection for more than 20 years - helping people meet, date, and fall in love all around the world."
"I would like to thank PMG's shareholders ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE and General Atlantic for their trust in me - looking forward to working with you and your teams, Bert Habets and Sascha Guenther. My thanks also go out to my predecessor Marc Schachtel who has already been doing everything to make the transition as smooth as possible and whom I wish all the best for his future personal and professional endeavours. I cannot wait to get started!"
