Wesfarmers Health unveils B2B ecommerce platform for pharmacy sector

Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API), a subsidiary of Wesfarmers Health, has introduced a new B2B eCommerce platform named myAPI. The initiative will support over 4,000 wholesale pharmacy customers across Australia. The platform is built on the SAP Commerce Cloud and was developed with the assistance of Publicis Sapient.

The myAPI platform offers a range of functionalities designed to streamline operations for pharmacy owners. These include product research, order placement, stock identification, pricing and deals management, account management, stock returns, backorder management, document housing, and customer support. The platform is also designed to ensure compliance with Community Service Obligations for pharmaceutical wholesalers, which includes the delivery of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme items within a 24-hour timeframe.

Executive General Manager of Wholesale & Pharmacy Services at Wesfarmers Health, Doug Swan, said: "By investing in technology like myAPI, we’re ensuring pharmacy owners have 24/7 access to critical products and essential information at their fingertips. This means more convenience and flexibility, and empowers them to serve their communities with confidence knowing they have what patients need, when they need it."

Publicis Sapient played a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of the myAPI platform.

Retail & Consumer Managing Partner & CTO Australia at Publicis Sapient, John Costello, said: "myAPI plays an important role in ensuring millions of Australians can access the medicine and wellness products they need. It was vital that the new platform delivered a seamless user experience while increasing customer satisfaction and enhancing operational efficiency. We were privileged to be able to support the API and Wesfarmers Health team with the design, development and implementation of the new myAPI platform and are delighted to see it roll out successfully."

The launch of myAPI is part of Wesfarmers Health's broader strategy following its formation in March 2022. This formation came after the acquisition of API and includes various B2B and B2C businesses. Wesfarmers Health currently employs over 3,600 team members.
