Droga5 ANZ nabs M&C Saatchi Group CEO Michael McEwan as director of Melbourne

Droga5 ANZ, a part of the global marketing and advertising agency network Accenture Song, has announced the appointment of Michael McEwan as the new Director of its Melbourne office. McEwan is set to assume his role in late May 2025.

McEwan brings nearly three decades of experience in the marketing industry, having held senior roles both in Australia and internationally. His most recent position was with M&C Saatchi Group, where he served for five years, culminating in his role as CEO of M&C Saatchi AUNZ. During his tenure, McEwan led the agency to secure major clients and deliver award-winning campaigns, earning recognition at prestigious industry events such as D&AD, Cannes Lions, One Show, and multiple Effies in 2024.

McEwan is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, further solidifying his credentials in the industry. His leadership at M&C Saatchi AUNZ was marked by strategic client acquisitions and the delivery of campaigns that garnered significant industry accolades.

"I’m beyond excited to be joining Droga5. There’s enormous opportunity in Melbourne to unleash the creative depth at Droga5 and the world-class capabilities of Accenture Song," McEwan said. "Droga5’s reputation for culturally resonant, effective work is second to none. While others talk about the future, Droga5 and Accenture Song are actively shaping it – I’m looking forward to contributing to that momentum."

Matt Michael, CEO of Droga5 ANZ and Accenture Song ANZ Marketing Practice Lead, welcomed McEwan's appointment. "As we continue to shape Droga5 in Australia and New Zealand, I’m thrilled to have Michael join us. He is a natural collaborator with a strong track record of pushing for great work and building exceptional teams,"

Michael also noted, "I am greatly looking forward to working with him and watching him harness the capability we have across Droga5 and the broader Accenture Song network. His appointment reflects our commitment to investing in the Melbourne market and supporting its business and creative communities."

Droga5 ANZ, as part of Accenture Song, continues to expand its footprint in the Australian and New Zealand markets.
