Macquarie Telecom promotes CMO as it expands MSP offering with $30 million VeloCloud partnership

Macquarie Telecom has promoted Tony Emmanouil from Chief Marketing Officer to Director of Marketing and Channel. This move coincides with a significant $30 million agreement with Broadcom-owned VeloCloud, focusing on SD-WAN technology, which will provide the foundations for a new division.

Under the terms of the agreement, Macquarie Telecom will establish a channel division to offer VeloCloud's SD-WAN technology to managed service providers (MSPs) throughout Australia. The company is currently VeloCloud's only Australian Pinnacle Partner. The four-year deal is supported by a $30 million investment from Macquarie Telecom and aims to provide better commercial terms to offset Broadcom's recent price increases.

To support the division, it's promoted Emmanouil to director of marketing and channel, leading the emerging VeloCloud Partner Channel and working closely with Macquarie Telecom's partners.

Macquarie Telecom first introduced SD-WAN technology to Australia in 2017 and has since deployed it to more businesses than any other provider in the country. The new offering will include hardware, licensing, managed services, carriage, and customer service, with a focus on maintaining a high net promoter score (NPS).

"This agreement empowers us to deploy a wide range of VeloCloud solutions, ranging from licencing to fully managed services to best suit different partners across Australia," Emmanouil commented. "This isn't just a resell play, we will go to market with partners to bring the world's leading SD-WAN technology to their customer base. We've got a truly unique blend of experience, expertise, commercial value and service to enable more partners to bring this technology to a greater cross-section of Australian businesses."

Sanjay Uppal, vice president and general manager of Broadcom's VeloCloud division, expressed optimism about the partnership, saying, "With this partnership, we can serve the needs of people who otherwise may not get access to this advanced technology." Uppal continued, "The world is changing, with new apps coming in, security threats, and people are really relying on their distributed networks a lot more on a day-by-day basis. This partnership together really epitomises what people are looking for in mid-to-large enterprises."
