Amazon Music expands audiobook access to Australia, France, and New Zealand

Amazon Music Unlimited has expanded its offering to include audiobooks for subscribers in France, Australia, and New Zealand, allowing subscribers to listen to one audiobook per month from Audible's extensive library of more than 850,000 titles.

It follows the initial introduction of audiobooks on Amazon Music in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada in late 2024.

The service, which is priced at AUD $12.99 per month, provides access to over 100 million songs in high-definition audio, top podcasts without advertisements, and now an extensive catalogue of audiobooks. New subscribers can take advantage of a promotional offer, receiving three months of Amazon Music Unlimited for free for a limited time.

Subscribers to the individual plan and primary account holders of the family plan are entitled to listen to one audiobook per month. They can continue listening to their selected audiobook even after the next billing cycle begins or choose a new one. Additionally, Amazon Music offers access to one Audible title per month, with options for subscribers to join Audible membership or purchase titles individually for more audiobook content.

Vice President of Audio, Twitch and Games for Amazon, Steve Boom, said: "The combination of Amazon Music and Audible, two pioneers in audio streaming, brings an unmatched selection of audio entertainment to customers... Amazon Music redefined audio streaming through the magic of Alexa, and with the introduction of high-definition and spatial music. Today, Amazon Music expands availability of Audible’s catalogue of audiobooks to brand-new audiences in France, Australia and New Zealand."

The expanded service includes audiobooks across various genres, as well as Audible's original and exclusive productions. Audible recently announced a new co-production of the original Harry Potter stories, scheduled for release in late 2025, which will feature full-cast audio productions in Dolby Atmos.

CEO of Audible, Bob Carrigan, said: "Audible has revolutionized the way people worldwide consume books, and as our category continues to evolve and scale, we’ve seen an ever-growing appetite for audiobooks... The opportunity to extend Audible to Amazon Music subscribers in France, Australia and New Zealand enables us to captivate the next generation of listeners with a treasure trove of storytelling, while Audible’s standalone service will continue to provide its exceptional library and customer experience in a suite of plan options for audiobook lovers who can’t get enough."
