QLD Premier to reveal 2032 Olympic venue plans at Courier-Mail's Future Brisbane event
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli will present a comprehensive plan for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic venues and infrastructure at The Courier-Mail's Future Brisbane event today. The announcement is anticipated to be the most significant development for Brisbane since the city secured the bid to host the Games nearly four years ago.
The event, which will take place at Howard Smith Wharves, is expected to draw more than 300 decision-makers and industry leaders. The unveiling of the venue plan will occur during a conversation between Premier Crisafulli and The Courier-Mail Editor Chris Jones.
Following the announcement, a discussion is scheduled between Jones and Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee President Andrew Liveris. The event will also feature a panel hosted by The Sunday Mail Editor Melanie Pilling. The panel will include Deputy Premier of Queensland Jarrod Bleijie, Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann, and Olympic swimming champion Cate Campbell.
The Future Brisbane event is supported by Howard Smith Wharves, TechnologyOne, and the University of Queensland.
Editor of The Courier-Mail, Chris Jones, said: "The Courier-Mail has a long and proud history of advocating for the city’s best interests. The Premier promised at our last Future Brisbane event in November to have a plan for Olympic and Paralympic Games venues within 100 days - and that time is now up.
"We are incredibly proud of the role we played in championing Brisbane’s Olympic bid. As we look towards 2032, we remain committed to the people of Queensland and focused on solutions for a more liveable and prosperous city."
