Dentsu has restructured its leadership team. Carat boss Sue Squillace becomes CEO for Dentsu Media, encompassing Carat, iProspect, SMG and Dentsu X. Former Clemenger Melbourne CEO Gayle While also joins the executive team as the division's new Chief Digital Officer.

What you need to know:

  • Dentsu has reorganised its operating structure, splitting out its media businesses into a new division, Dentsu Media.
  • Current Carat boss Sue Squillace will lead the media business as CEO.
  • Former Clems Melbourne CEO Gayle While joins the executive team as Chief Digital Officer.

Dentsu has named Carat boss Sue Squillace as the Chief Executive Officer for its new division, Dentsu media ANZ.

She will continue to lead Carat while managing Dentsu's media portfolio across ANZ, which includes Dentsu X, iProspect and SMG.

The change forms part of the ongoing simplification of the Dentsu ANZ business over the course of the last 18 months.

Recent changes have seen digital and CX agency Isobar split out and folded into BWM Dentsu (now BWM Isobar) and Merkle, as well as the merger of Vizeum and iProspect.

Squillace reports into Dentsu CEO Angela Tangas, who will still be involved with the media division but less "from a day to day perspective".

"In terms of the role it's really around continuing the transformation journey that Dentsu has been on for the last 18 plus months," Squillace told Mi3

"We are simplifying our brands and our structure to be focused around our clients and people, and launching our new GTM brand proposition including the new iProspect proposition post the merge of Vizeum."

Alongside Squillace's promotion, Gayle While has been named Chief Digital Officer within the media portfolio, following the departure of Patrick Darcy to fintech firm Beem It.

Prior to joining Dentsu, While was Chief Client Officer with Hugo & Cat in London and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne CEO up until June last year. She starts in the role in August.

“Now more than ever, we know our current and future clients want greater access to diverse capabilities, agile resourcing models, and improved effectiveness, to be their customer partner," Tangas said.

“The promotion of Sue and hiring of Gayle are important moves to further strengthen and diversify our media capability."
