Nathan Birch steps down as CEO of Interbrand ANZ after 8 years
Interbrand ANZ's Nathan Birch, has stepped away from the CEO post after eight years in the role.
He announced his departure in a LinkedIn post on Friday, writing: "Sometimes, even the deepest relationships need to recognise when the music has changed... But mostly, it just feels like time."
Birch was appointed as the branding agency's chief in 2017, joining after a year as director of innovation and transformation at Nine Entertainment. His previous experience includes executive leadership roles at Deloitte Digital, KPMG Australia and Little Brave Ventures, which he founded in 2012.
During his tenure at Interbrand, the agency collaborated with a range of notable clients, including Telstra, Westpac, Sydney Opera House, Foxtel, Coles, Xero, Sky NZ, BT Financial, AMP, Fed Square, Sydney Fish Market, Next Sense, Crimestoppers, SBS, and Rowing Australia.
"What a ride it's been. We've supported some of Australia and New Zealand's most interesting companies in creating, managing, and growing their brands," said Birch. "We've turned branding into a strategic asset. We've built a team that manages to be both commercially savvy and creatively fearless."
Birch is yet to confirm his next gig, but said he is open to short-term consulting and advisory work.
"As for what's next? I'm rather enjoying the uncertainty. I'm open to short-term consulting and advisory work while I figure out whether my next act involves brands, boats, or something entirely unexpected," he said.
"Sometimes the most interesting stories begin with 'I wonder what would happen if...' Here's to blank pages, new chapters, and the delicious discomfort of not knowing what comes next."
