Warner Bros, Snapchat create AR lenses to support Minecraft Movie launch
Snapchat and Warner Bros. have joined forces to introduce a series of augmented reality (AR) Lenses to promote the upcoming film, A Minecraft Movie. The collaboration aims to engage Snapchat users by allowing them to transform into Minecraft characters and experience their surroundings in the iconic block aesthetic of the game.
Four distinct Snapchat AR Lenses have been developed for this initiative. The Blockify Your World Lens is designed to transform real-world environments into Minecraft's signature blocky aesthetic. The Gamified Lens, powered by 3D Bitmoji, offers users a game-like experience where they can collect creatures featured in the movie.
The Character Transformation Lens provides users with the ability to see themselves as various Minecraft characters, including the Bee, Panda, Creeper, and Llama. Meanwhile, the 3D Body Tracking Lens allows users to transform into Minecraft creatures such as the Zombie or Skeleton. This particular lens will become available on March 22.
These AR Lenses will be accessible to Snapchat users in multiple countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Spain, and Brazil. Users can access the lenses via the Lens Carousel and the A Minecraft Movie Snapchat profile.
Warner Bros. plans to run a First Lens Unlimited Takeover for the 3D Body Tracking Lens on March 22. Additionally, a featured Takeover will occur in Lens Explorer during the week of March 24. To further promote the movie and drive ticket sales, Warner Bros. is employing video Snap Ads and Commercials.
