IG Australia, Melbourne Football Club, explore the mental game of AFL

IG Australia has launched the second series of The Melbourne Mindset, a content series delving into the psychological aspects of AFL football through its partnership with Melbourne Football Club.

The series, created in collaboration with media agency, Wavemaker, and Dentsu Creative Public Relations, kicked off its second season on Thursday with an episode featuring 2021 Premiership player Christian Salem and host Clint Stanaway.

The first episode of the new season delved into Salem’s diagnosis of a thyroid condition and his insights on mental resilience and its impact on his AFL performance. The series will continue to launch new episodes throughout 2024, sharing diverse stories from the club’s players – both from AFL and AFLW.

IG Australia first partnered with Melbourne Football Club in 2015 and is their Official Trading Partner. The series investigates the mental side of the game and the strategies employed within the club to maintain commitment to The Melbourne Mindset.

"We saw benefit from the last season of The Melbourne Mindset series, encouraging the team to share their stories of commitment to their mindsets both on and off the field. In football, the mind is one of the most powerful tools players have access to and we know how much the mind can affect peak performance," said Chief Commercial Officer, Melbourne Football Club, Chris Kearon.

"After such a successful first season of The Melbourne Mindset, we are pleased to be back working alongside Melbourne Football Club, exploring the mental side of the game. Mindset is as important for high performance trading as it is for high performance football and this series shines a spotlight into the latter," said Head of Marketing APAC, IG Australia, Kassandra Humphreys.

"In football and in trading the mind is one of the most powerful tools players and traders have access to. And we know how much influence the mind can have on peak performance," Kearon said.

"We are thrilled to showcase the importance of The Melbourne Mindset for both traders and players. We know this to be as important in trading as it is in football. IG is proud to support our traders as well as Melbourne’s players committed to the mindset," Humphreys said.
