Uber's new Head of Media, Joe Lunn.

Mindshare’s Joe Lunn has been named APAC Head of Media at Uber, departing the agency after more than seven and a half years. His first client-side role means the MFA is on the hunt for a new MFA Awards and MFA EX chairperson.

What you need to know:

  • Joe Lunn has been appointed Head of Media for APAC at Uber.
  • He will work with Uber’s APAC Marketing team.
  • His departure from Mindshare as Chief Technology and Transformation Officer means the Media Federation of Australia is searching for a new MFA Awards and MFA EX Chairperson.

Uber has named former Mindshare Chief Technology and Transformation Officer, Joe Lunn, as its new Head of Media for APAC.

It’s the first time Lunn has worked brand-side, having worked in agencies like Mindshare, ZenithOptimedia France and OMD for his career so far. The appointment means the Media Federation of Australia (MFA) is searching for a new chairperson for the MFA Awards and MFA EX conference.

The MFA Awards are due to take place on 13 October, meaning a new chairperson is likely to be selected before then.

“I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve started a new role as APAC Head of Media at Uber!” Lunn shared on social media. He thanked the Uber APAC marketing team as well as Mindshare.

"Fantastic to have you on board, Joe, and bring your exceptional media experience and strategic thinking to Uber and Uber Eats across APAC," Uber's APAC Head of Marketing, Lucinda Barlow, said.

Uber advertised the role after former APAC media chief, Lee Walsh, was promoted to Global Head of Media for the company. Walsh moved from Singapore, where the role was previously held, to San Francisco.

Per the job description, Lunn will be “the primary interface between the brand team, media agencies, and global in-house team”, responsible for all online and offline media and accountable for Uber’s annual brand spends. He will report to Walsh.
