Mastercard appoints Florencia Aimo to lead integrated marketing and communications in Australia

Mastercard has announced the appointment of Florencia Aimo as Vice President, Integrated Marketing and Communications, Australia. In her new role, Aimo will lead Mastercard's marketing efforts across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. She will manage a team of ten, responsible for delivering consumer and B2B marketing, sponsorships, merchant partnerships, and communications.

Aimo will drive growth and innovation in Mastercard's multi-sensory marketing approach in the division, including its sonic brand, which was named by amp as best audio brand for a second year in a row in 2023. She will oversee key brand assets including Mastercard's sponsorships and its digital brand platform priceless.com, which offers cardholders exclusive and bespoke moments built around universal passions such as cuisine, music, and sports.

Aimo will report into Richard Wormald, Division President, Australia, and Julie Nestor, Executive Vice President, Integrated Marketing and Communications, Asia Pacific.

Aimo brings with her a 20-year career in the hospitality industry, beginning her career with Hilton and then Marriott International, rising through the ranks with various marketing roles across different hotel brands. She has experience working in Buenos Aires, Miami, Cancun, Orlando, and Sydney, cultivating a global mindset, with significant experience navigating a range of diverse and complex markets.

Aimo joins Mastercard from Marriott International where she held the role of Senior Area Director of Marketing for Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific, overseeing all marketing activity across a diverse portfolio of 46 hotels, spanning 15 brands in 5 countries within the ANZ market. During her nine-year tenure with Marriott, Aimo spearheaded the opening of 20 new hotels and successfully introduced six new brands into the Australian market, including Aloft, Moxy, The Ritz-Carlton, and W Hotels, among others.
