Super Retail Group braces for employee-led legal action
Super Retail Group, the parent company of Supercheap Auto, rebel, BCF and Macpac, is preparing to defend court proceedings initiated by two of its employees.
Outlined in an note shared to the ASX, the employees, represented by Harmers Workplace Lawyers, are expected to jointly claim losses and damages ranging from $30 million to $50 million.
The allegations include non-disclosure of a relationship between Anthony Heraghty, the Group Managing Director & CEO, and the former Chief Human Resources Officer; inappropriate company travel; bullying, victimisation and adverse treatment; unreasonable workloads, insufficient resources and restricted access to information for certain employees; and unsatisfactory company record management.
The Super Retail Group Board, supported by independent external advisers, has conducted investigations into these allegations and concluded that none are substantiated. The Group, with Allens acting on its behalf, intends to defend any court proceedings related to these allegations. Due to the expected litigation, the Group has refrained from making further comments at this time but will update the market as appropriate.
