Mi3 expands team: Kalila Welch joins as Senior Journalist – Agency and Media; Pamela Schoenhofer in Editorial and Partnerships

By Staff Writer

Mi3's team (L-R): Kalila Welch; Paul McIntyre; Lauren Martin; Nadia Cameron; Andrew Birmingham; Brendan Coyne; Pamela Schoenhofer

Two new appointments to the Mi3 team will see Kalila Welch oversee Mi3’s daily AI Fast News project and cover the agency and media rounds; Pamela Schoenhofer joins in Editorial & Partnerships.

Kalila Welch joined the Mi3 team this week to take the reins of our Fast News edition, a platform designed by Mi3 to automate industry news, moves and campaigns across four core industry verticals: Marketing, Tech, Media and Agencies & Consulting.

Fast News plugs into ChatGPT and Dall-E to generate draft stories and images but with editorial oversight and editing before publishing. Launched in November, the early results have seen Mi3’s volumes increase circa 30 per cent – and climbing.

Welch, along with Mi3 Editors, will manage the daily Fast News editions and help develop the next iterations of Fast News and AI deployment. Mi3 maintains the role for smart, informed human journalists who are active in market, is critical as AI takes on more of the transactional workload.

Along with Fast News, Welch, who joins from Mumbrella, will cover the agency and media beats with Executive Editor Paul McIntyre and Associate Editor Brendan Coyne.

Marketing Editor and Associate Publisher Nadia Cameron leads Mi3’s coverage of marketers and marketing along with developing new Mi3 initiatives – one will be announced in coming weeks – while Andrew Birmingham continues as Mi3 Editor for CX, Martech, Ecom and Data.

Welch holds a Bachelor of Communication from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Masters of Journalism and Communication from the UNSW Sydney.

Pamela Schoenhofer has also joined in an Editorial and Partnerships role to bring some needed resource to the fast and furious pace of Mi3’s operations team, led astutely by Lauren Martin.

Pamela has worked in the media industry for 20 years in London, Munich and Sydney. She recently returned to Australia, joining Mi3 to support business operations.
