OpenAI launches paid service called ChatGPT Plus. Aussies will have to wait

Australian users will have to wait a while longer before they can access the subscription level service for ChatGPT. The company also flagged plans to publish the ChatGPT API waitlist.
Open AI, the company behind breakthrough AI service ChatGPT has launched a subscription plan called ChatGPT Plus starting at $US20 a month, promising customers will get faster response times, and priority access to new features and improvements.
However, Australian users will have to wait.
The new service is initially only available to US customers States, with the company saying only that it plans to expand access and support to additional countries and regions shortly.
In a statement, the company also flagged the launch of the ChatGPT API waitlist, and said it was actively exploring options for lower-cost plans, business plans, and data packs for more availability.
And it stressed it will continue allowing people to access the tool for free.
According to a statement announcing the new subscription service, “We launched ChatGPT as a research preview so we could learn more about the system’s strengths and weaknesses and gather user feedback to help us improve upon its limitations. Since then, millions of people have given us feedback, we’ve made several important updates and we’ve seen users find value across a range of professional use-cases, including drafting & editing content, brainstorming ideas, programming help, and learning new topics.”
