Shopify has introduced a new suite of tools named 'Shopify for Agents', aimed at enhancing shopping experiences within AI agents.

The suite is designed to integrate seamlessly with AI technologies, as part of Shopify's strategy to adapt to the growing role of AI in consumer purchasing behaviour.

A notable feature of the suite is the 'Universal Cart', which allows shoppers to add products from multiple merchants into a single cart, regardless of whether the merchants are on Shopify or not. These tools are currently available in early access.

The suite also includes the 'Checkout Kit', which allows merchants to integrate their customised checkout processes with the branding of AI agents.

This feature is already being utilised by Microsoft Copilot.

Another component, 'Shopify Catalog', enables AI agents to search through millions of products from Shopify merchants, providing accurate inventory details and localised pricing.

In a statement, it said, "The global commerce leader has just unveiled Shopify for Agents, a suite of tools designed to power native shopping experiences inside AI agents." Husain further noted, "As AI becomes an increasingly important part of how consumers discover and purchase products, Shopify is laying the groundwork to make shopping with AI agents easy and seamless."
