Nova lands Australian rights for Steven Bartlett's Diary of a CEO
Nova Entertainment has signed an exclusive partnership with FlightStory, the media and investment company behind the globally renowned podcast 'The Diary of a CEO'. It marks the first Australian venture for FlightStory, following a competitive pitch process.
FlightStory, founded by entrepreneur Steven Bartlett, is known for its flagship podcast 'The Diary of a CEO', which ranks as the world's second-largest interview podcast. The podcast boasts 25 million followers, over 11 million YouTube subscribers, and achieves over one billion streams and 60 million monthly listens worldwide.
The partnership grants Australian advertisers access to the entire FlightStory podcast portfolio through Nova. This includes podcasts by notable figures such as Davina McCall, Paul C. Brunson, and Dr. Kristen Holmes, all available exclusively to Australian advertisers via Nova.
"We’ve chosen Nova Entertainment as our exclusive representation in the Australian market because we feel deeply aligned. And I say that in many respects. We share a commitment to independent ownership, creative innovation, a collaborative mindset, and the belief that this partnership will make one plus one equal three," said Bartlett.
"Over the next few decades, we’re building one of the most important media companies in the world. And to go far, we know we must go together with strategic partners like Nova, who share our belief in the power of podcasting.
"We’re incredibly excited to work with Australia’s most impactful brands. At FlightStory, brand partnerships aren’t transactional, they’re about shared growth. Nova uniquely shares that philosophy. This partnership creates an unparalleled opportunity for brands to deliver positive influence at scale - unlike anything that currently exists in the Australian market. So, let’s open the conversation."
Nova Entertainment’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Charlton, said: "This is a huge win for Nova. Steven and the entire FlightStory team are truly world class, as is the content they create. I'm incredibly proud they’ve chosen us to help grow their presence in Australia and firmly believe they’re in the right hands."
"Our partnership reflects how we see podcasting evolving in this country across content, distribution, and how brands can meaningfully work with creators. The team is eager to get started, and as a long-time The Diary of a CEO listener myself, I’m excited for more Australians to be a part of these groundbreaking conversations that stay with you long after you listen."
Chief Revenue Officer at FlightStory, Christiana Brenton, said: "Nova's pitch stood out in every way, anchored in creative bravery, a commitment to innovation, and a deep empathy for the advertiser experience. This was particularly evident in their world class branded content division, Create. Their shared values of independence, 1% mindset and pursuit of excellence align seamlessly with our values at FlightStory. We’re especially excited to test a new model of strategic distribution, with our titles promoted across Nova's owned, earned, and paid ecosystem, maximising impact for both our audiences and Australian advertising partners."
Nova Entertainment’s National Commercial Strategy Director, Create, Kate Murphy, said: "Our partnership with FlightStory exemplifies the very best of what Nova are capable of unlocking for advertisers. Steven is undoubtedly one of the most discerning brand builders in the world. For that to be the caliber of partner we can attract is testament to the level of talent, creativity and ambition in our business. I’m very proud that we will be the ones to bring this incredible commercial opportunity to the Australian marketplace."
