Nestlé Australia teams up with OzHarvest to combat food insecurity
Nestlé Australia has partnered with food rescue organisation OzHarvest to tackle the growing issue of food insecurity by providing approximately 400,000 meals over the next 12 months.
According to OzHarvest's Annual Community Needs survey, 50,000 people are unable to access food each month, marking a 54% increase from the previous year.
Nestlé employees will have the opportunity to volunteer in various programs, including 'Make Meal, Donate a Meal', food rescue collection, Cooking for a Cause, and assisting at OzHarvest free markets.
CEO of Nestlé Australia, Sandra Martinez, said: "At Nestlé, we believe in the power of food to change lives and are proud to be working with an organisation that makes such a profound impact on the lives of so many Australians. Our partnership with OzHarvest is a natural extension of our own commitment to make a positive impact on local communities and the environment in which we live."
In addition to meal provision, the partnership will focus on promoting nutrition education and raising awareness about reducing food waste at home.
Founder of OzHarvest, Ronni Kahn AO, said: "When we join forces with purpose at the centre, that's when magic happens. Our new partnership with Nestle is about shared values and a deep understanding that food has the extraordinary power to transform lives. In these challenging times, more people than ever need our help, so we're thrilled to welcome Nestle to the OzHarvest family to help us create lasting impact in communities across Australia. Together, we're nourishing communities, reducing waste, and proving that business can be a powerful force for good."
