Digital agency The Pistol has apologised after announcing it had signed a contract for the NBN’s social and digital creative account. It has since retracted the win.

The Pistol has apologised for mistakenly announcing it had won the NBN as a client. This was the original story:

The Pistol will shape strategy for the NBN’s Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok channels, while managing creative production.

“In the current landscape of remote working and social distancing, the NBN has had a profound impact by empowering millions of Australians to maintain their employment and quality of life,” Jaime Nosworthy, The Pistol’s CEO, said.

“We will highlight the consumer and business benefits of switching to the NBN and work closely with the NBN to achieve their end goal of narrowing Australia's digital divide.”

Several hours later, it emerged no contract had been signed with the NBN.

The Pistol issued the following statement: "The Pistol, (Tiger Pistol Pty Ltd), would like to retract the announcement we made on 1st of March 2022 in relation to having a partnership with nbn. This is not correct and we have no contract with this company. We sincerely apologise for this error."
