Grammarly to acquire AI-native email platform Superhuman
Grammarly has announced its plans to acquire Superhuman, an AI-native email application, as part of its strategy to evolve into an AI productivity platform for applications and agents.
CEO of Grammarly, Shishir Mehrotra, said: "This is the future we've been building toward since day one: AI that works where people work, not where companies want them to work."
Superhuman is known for its ability to help users respond faster and save time on email communications. According to reports, users of Superhuman send and respond to 72% more emails per hour after adopting the app.
CEO of Superhuman, Rahul Vohra, said: "Email is the main communication tool for billions of people worldwide and the number-one use case for Grammarly customers."
Grammarly's AI assistant is currently involved in revising over 50 million emails per week across more than 20 email providers. The acquisition of Superhuman aligns with Grammarly's broader vision of creating applications that function as intelligent agents collaborating with users. Superhuman is reportedly evolving into a comprehensive workspace for agents, with 94% of its weekly active users engaging with AI.
The acquisition follows Grammarly's recent purchase of Coda, a workspace designed for managing agents. Grammarly's aim is to transform into a multi-product company with hundreds of intelligent, task-specific agents. The platform is expected to enable users to work with multiple agents simultaneously, thereby enhancing productivity.
"By joining forces with Grammarly, we will invest even more in the core Superhuman experience, as well as create a new way of working where AI agents collaborate across the communication tools that we all use every day. These kinds of agents will free us all up to be more creative, strategic, and closer to achieving our human potential," said Vohra.
